Hopkinsville 27 Warren Central 25

Featured Replies

Hopkinsville weathered 3 first quarter turnovers, but came away unscathed, giving up 0 points. In the second quarter they got it going and led 14-3 at halftime. After a surprise onside kick to open the half, Hopkinsville drove down the field to go up 21-3. But they had to withstand a furious comeback by the Dragons, fueled by a change at QB back to original starter Quenton Smith. The Dragons scored on all three possessions with Smith in the game, and drew within 27-25 with 1:45 left in the game. The Dragons recovered the ensuing onside kick, but it had only traveled 9-9.5 yards. The Tigers weren't out of the woods yet though, as they faced a 3rd and 12 with just under a minute remaining. But they got a clutch run for the first down and took the victory formation to seal the game.

I was more encouraged in the latter half of this game than I had in the previous 3, and I'm hoping this can be a flashpoint that the Dragons can use to try and turn this around.

Good to see the effort from the Dragons. Now, it needs to become consistent. It would have been easy for them to lay down, but they didn't. Big game ahead this week up in Bardstown.
