Somerset 46 Cobin 40 OT (JV)

Final from Corbin. Very exciting game to watch. Huge game for Somerset WR/DB Taylor Sears who had 4 interceptions and 3 touchdowns. Nice win for a short-handed Jumper squad!

Good win for the Jumpers. They have some talent over there that will come thru in the future. Not sure how many kids Somerset is missing, but the Hounds have a few out as well that might have helped the cause. Sounds like an exciting finish. To win on the road is always big.

Somerset was without FB/LB Trey Slaughter, OT/DT Clayton Stringer and TE/DE Corey Stringer tonight. I know that Corbin was missing West and Foley for sure but I thought I saw 3 on crutches on the Redhound side. The kids that were available played very hard for both teams. Corbin made a nice comeback from 12 down in the 4th to tie it while Somerset was able to stop both 2 pt. conversion attempts to keep it tied and force overtime. In the overtime Rob Stevenson and Taylor Speaks made a big stop for no gain on first down then Matthew McElhaney made a sack for a 10 yard loss on 2nd down. Two Corbin passes were batted down on 3rd and 4th down to give Somerset the chance to win it, which they did with a sneak on 2nd and goal. After the game one of our captains said that Corbin won the toss in OT and decided to go on offense first, I still haven't figured that one out.

Who knows what there were thinking, perhaps it was miscommunication with that young group. Coach Duncum does a great job with his teams and seems to keep it fun for them. Best of luck to both team. Sounds like this series needs to continue for a few more seasons. Always good when the Jumpers and Hounds compete. I look for the schools to play in basketball each season now that Coach Daniel is leading the Jumpers.

Smith would have made an impact as well for the Hounds.

Anyone have any word on how Justin Perdue's knee is. He was hurting pretty bad last night.

Great game, came down to the wire, just a few mistakes for Corbin and this one may have went the other way...I know right off the bat in the 2nd half Mitchell Completed a TD pass to McDaniel that gave them some momentum.....Corbin plays at LexCath next week.
