Woodford County 49 Bardstown 34

Featured Replies

Woodford County 49 Bardstown 34. Woodford put in a lot of second team players and Bardstown made it a lot closer then it should have been.

^ That's only partially accurate. Woodford crushed Bardstown in the first half, the Tigers were abysmal, and led at half 35-7. Woodford's QB (#2) had been banged up last week and then got banged up again in the first half, and did not play the rest of the game. Bardstown scored on Woodford's 2nd team defense in the 3rd Qtr to make it 35-14, Woodford scored again to make it 42-14 at the end of the 3rd.

Bardstown then scored against the 2nd team Woodford D to make it 42-21, and after the Tiger D forced a three and out, the starting Woodford D came back in (a noticeable moment when players on the bench were rushing to put shoulder pads back on) and Bardstown scored 2 more td's to make it 42-34.

Woodford got the ball with 5:40 left and drove it to the Tiger 18 yard line. The Bardstown D stiffened and forced a 4th and 6. Woodford elected to go for it with 2:30 left, threw a lofted pass toward the end zone, the Bardstown defender had great position, and the pass was incomplete. The back judge, standing a few feet from the play, signaled incomplete. The side judge, who was at least 10 yards away, came running in and threw a pass interference flag a good 3-4 seconds after the play was over. It was a terrible call. Iwish I could embed the replay. While both players had their hands on one another, it was a jump ball, and the rule says that the defender must use the contact to "gain and advantage." There was nothing close to gaining an advantage. It did not cost us the ballgame, but it DECIDED the game and cost us a chance to come all the way back. Keep in mind the Bardstown had scored on 4 consecutive drives and 3 of them had been explosive big plays that went virtually the length of the field.

Woodford scored and Bardstown did not have time to overcome.

Woodford is a very good offensive team with a lot of weapons and a great passing attack. They are significantly better with #2 at QB then with #13. No shot at #13, he is good too, but he does not bring the maneuverability to the table that #2 brings and #2 is a more precise passer. #11 is an outstanding offensive player and absolutely killed us. #83 is a great offensive target at TE with good hands. We did not cover the Woodford crossing routes all night.

Woodford's defense is not good. Bardstown, despite the awful first half, actually moved the ball quite well and killed themselves with 3 interceptions and a fumble. Woodford could not stop our fullback. In the second half, Bardstown reeled off huge chunks of yardage, and the Tiger passing game is becoming very good. We have not had this much POTENTIAL in the aerial game since John Wesley Monin was QB back in 2001. Both T.J. Downs and Keaton Hall completed some big passes in the 2nd half, and Jordan Hickman is becoming a huge threat at wideout.

#42 Rashaun Phillips played a great game at fullback. I also continue to be impressed with #15 Ricky Harper, #4 Deangelo Poynter, and #23 Johnathan Johnson running the ball.

WE have played 2 weeks of lousy first halves, and then have had great resolve and strength in trying to come back. Maybe we can put together a great football game next week against Warren East.

It was #23 Chris Jones he is a WR no a TE. Duckworth #2 is fine he would have went back in but they didn't risk getting him hurt with districts starting next week. Plus he did not practice much last week and #13 Ryan Garrahan a sophomore took must of the snaps.
