Scrimmage Formats?

Featured Replies

How come all of these scrimmages have some weird format? I'm sure the reason is probably so teams can work things out with equal amount of plays. However, I'm not sure if that's the reason. It'd sure be a lot more entertaining if it just went with a regular game format.

Many teams, in their first scrimmage, play 10 plays of offense, then 10 plays of defense, followed by some situational series, such as goal line. Then in the second scrimmage, they play more of a game format.

I know not all teams do this, but it is a common way of approaching scrimmages.
