Hoptown/Lone Oak Scrimmage

Featured Replies

Hoptown 48 Lone Oak 26 in the first half. 2nd half Hoptown 28 Murray 24.

Wow, Murray played Hoptown closer then Lone Oak? How much of each score was varsity and how much was JV?

Word is that Lone Oak's def is going to be very suspect - from most all close to the program to those who have seen them this year so far. Murray is going to be better then many think. Looks like Murray got to play Hoptown after they'd had a big half vs. LO, so Hoptown might have been a bit worn out. Someone confirm otherwise to the order of play.

Murray could be a sleeper this year and knock off Trigg and Caldwell in 2a d1, but will have a hard time advancing very far in the playoffs with Ft Campbell and/or OB Catholic a likely opponent in an early round of the playoffs..

Lone Oak will compete well with Calloway and Hopk Central in 4a d1, but, they'll have to shore up the defense to advance very far, but, by seasons end, could go relatively far..

Hopkinsville is improved, but, with Christian and Owensboro in the same district, could finish anywhere from 1st to 3rd. All 3 are pretty equal imo...

Hoptown played more you guys against Murray. Did not play the starting QB and RB's. Murray line up with two tights 3 backs and smacked them in the mouth pretty good. They had a couple of good backs and ran behind their massive linemen. They were very physical. I like Lone Oaks QB Brown, he surprised us how well he throws and can run for days. After we left Murray was going to play Lone Oak for a half, don't know any details.

Lone Oak beat Murray 7-0. It was a real surprise seeing how much talent Lone Oak has and they only won by 7, especially that Murray just finished a close game with Hoptown then went directly into the next. Murray is going to be a smash mouth team and showed that in both games. 2a needs to start watching them. Hoptown has a really good running back, number 1, that made some huge runs against Lone Oak. All three teams are going to have a great season

A bit early to think about the playoffs, but maybe we will see a Fort Campbell vs Murray in the Regional Championship game? I'm sure Trigg, Caldwell, and Owensboro Catholic will have a lot to say about that, but it might make for an interesting game.
