Ryle won 28-7, with Holmes score coming late in 4th quarter. Both teams started out very sluggish on offense. Ryle started showing some life in 2nd quarter and the offense played well from there on. All the Ryle RB's had strong games. Ryle's passing game looked crisp. Must say that I was overall impressed with Holmes. After watching the freshman, JV, and varsity, it looks as though they had a very strong turnout number-wise this year. They have some big boys on D-line and did a nice job of pressuring Ryle's QB. Even showed a bit of a passing game on offense. This is not the Holmes' team of past years and they will win some games this year.

 

Big test coming next week for Ryle against Highlands at Highlands.

Ryle scored all on rushing TD's. Four backs - Eubanks (1 TD), Peace (2 TD's), Thibadeaux (1 TD), and Elliott all looked good. Ryle passing game was mostly short stuff, but looked good also. Holmes scored on rushing play late in game against Ryle's second team. But Holmes still had a few nice moments offensively throughout the game, they just couldn't put together a long drive.

 

As far as next week, it would probably be a bit of wishful thinking that Ryle could hang with the 23rd ranked team in country, but certainly not out of the question. While I'm most definitely not hoping Josh Conner is seriously hurt, one would think it would definitely impact Highlands and possibly make this a closer game than expected.
