Best NKY golf team?

Featured Replies

Why did he move there then come right back?

I dont know the reasons, but I don't think that needs to be discussed on here. He was at Ryle, moved to Florida and came back. Period.

Steve Flesch Invitational at Boone Links

Ryle 311 (2nd in team competition)

CovCath 326

St X (Louisville) B team shot 305 and won the tournament.

If Nick George stays true to his game, I believe he's on of the best golfers in the state.

Disagree.

Parker Adams is having a great season for Beechwood. Be prepared for him to have a good showing in the regionals.

Ryle shot a 166. They must of had an off day?

Cody Martin took an 8 on the par-5 last hole. Andrew Desmarais didn't play. Jordan Erlewine took a 42 - not his normal.

Alan Flood exceeded expectations by shooting 39. Andrew Kendall also shot 39 and it's good to see him back.

Still, the score stands - CovCath definitively beat Ryle. But, it's a 9-hole match, which is not a very good indicator imho.

CovCath won the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference Tourney on Monday - at Hickory Sticks. Ryle took 2nd - 7 strokes behind CovCath.

7th Regional is next Monday at Kenton County Willows - the next battle between CovCath and Ryle is next Monday. It will be close between Ryle and CovCath - they should both qualify for state.

Beware of sleeper teams.

St.Henry, Holy Cross, and Beechwood can all go low

Ryle and Cov Cath have dominated NKY golf for years. This year will be no exception.

If you' re speaking of the last 5 years, you are correct, they have certainly dominated NKY. Going back to 2001 and earlier, it was Cov Cath against the field, with St. Henry providing the most consistent competition.

1st Ryle

2nd CovCath

3rd Boone County

Medalist - Steve Rickels from Holy Cross - 77

2nd - Andrew Desmarais from Ryle - 79

Other 2 individual qualifiers (in addition to Rickels) - Stan Zajac from Dixie and Austin Thomas from Boone.

Only two scores in the 70s. Pins were tucked. Greens were soft but fast. Wind picked up on the back 9. Many scores over 100.
