Interesting that Ryle is ranked higher nationally but yet Scott County beat them and has a better record than them.

She pitched 1 inning. She gave up one run. I have no idea why the pulled her after 1 inning. Scott went on to win the game 6-0.

I was told Allen pitched 2 innings vs Scott Co.and was removed .Gave up 3 in the first

This was by a Scott Co. parent

Article in the paper said Allen pitched the first inning and retired the side in order according to coach Matteolie (sp?)

Yet Scott Co. tells a different story ?????????????

I got my info from the Scott County paper. Here is the article.

Ryle High School’s highly-touted pitcher

Kirsten Allen was no match for the Cardinals

in the 2008 WHAS Crusade for

Children Tournament on Saturday in Fort

Knox.

ScottCountyscoredonlyonerunoff Allen

inthe first inning of the semifinal game, but

it was enough to knock the Oklahoma

University recruit out of the game as the

Cardinalswent on towin 7-0with freshman

aceTannerTevis onthemound.

“I’m not sure why they pulled her after

that one inning,” Scott County coach

Sabrina McCullough said. “Maybe we’ve

just got her number.”

Scott County then defeated Oldham

County 7-2 in the championship game to

win the tournament. The Cardswent 6-0 in

the tourney.

Tevis tossed a complete-game one-hitter

and had four strikeouts against Ryle. Itwas

only one highlight in a weekend where the

Cards also received outstanding pitching

from senior Jordan Smith and sophomore

SarahHoward.

“Our bats were going good but our pitching

is really what pulled us through the

weekend,”McCullough said.

Howard had one complete-game victory

andwas creditedwith twowins in the tournament.

Smith pitched her second complete game

in the championshipwinwhere she recorded

seven strikeouts and allowed five hits.

She also had a save after an inning of relief

for Howard in the tournament opener that

theCardswon 6-0 against PRP.
