Theoldguy Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 CovCath 13 Scott 3 (5 innings) or they say it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes an entire to team to win championships and today it was that way for CovCath.
Theoldguy Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 The CovCath good; Wow another fine outing by senior John Wehry who went a complete 5 innings to take the victory, but some poster will be upset because he only struck out 2 but like his first start of the season aginst LLoyd (who btw beat Boone badly) John didn't walk a single batter and got the Eagles batters to either pop up or ground out 12 times to his infielders. The CovCath infield didn't commit a error in the 12 attempts that they had in today's game. VanSant was hitting the cover off the ball today and had 3 rbi's along with going 2 for 3 and scored a run. Klein went 1 for 1 with two walks and a HBP and scored two runs. Holocher went 1 for 1 with a SF rbi HBP and a double CovCath scored 1 in the 2nd, 6 runs in the 4th and 5th innings for a total of 13. The CovCath bad; Again being picky, but to many men LOB. CovCath Pitching John Wehry 5 innings 70 pitches 7 hits 0 walks 2 K's 3 runs 3 earned runs 4 AB 2 hits double 1 walk 1 runs scored Maile 3 AB 1 hit 1 SF and 1 run scored LaFever 4 AB 3 hits double and 2 runs scored Darner 1 AB 1 hit 2 walks 1 HBP and 2 runs scored Isler 2 AB 0 hit 2 HBP and 1 run scored Nutini 3 AB 2 hits 1 SF and 1 run scored VanSant 1 AB 1 hit double 1 walk 1 HBP and 2 runs scored Holocher 1 AB 0 hits 2 walks and 2 runs scored Niehaus 1 AB 1 hit 1 HBP 2 walks 2 runs scored Klein
goallout25 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Wehry with two complete games in 12 innings on 136 pitches. That is pretty efficient. Looks like he is making a push at getting some more innings late in the season. When you don't walk any batters and locate like he does, you don't necessarily have to be overpowering. Kudos on another solid outing!!!
KCH71 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Nice see the Colonels putting up the wins. What is their record so far this season. Will they make another 20 wins rhis tear? That would make 21 straight 20 win seasons. Impressive.
Theoldguy Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 Their record at the present time is 14-4 with games the rest of the week in the LIT against LexChristian Academy Friday, Lou Male and West Jessamine on Saturday at Male HS. Is it ture that the Male HS baseball field is one of the nicest in the Commonwealth? Looking forward to the trip, but please don't expect any reports on any of these games until late on Saturday night.
CCH24 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Didn't see the game but it sounds like Scott was hitting the ball pretty well today. . Only getting out hit 11 to 7 it looks like. Although giving the Colonels about 13 free base runners probably didn't help. . .

When you don't walk a batter, you make the other team swing the bat, and even the best hitters make more outs than they get hits. If the Scott pitchers don't walk a CovCath batter maybe, maybe this game goes more than 5 innings, however the CovCath batters were smacking the ball hard even in making outs.
h-dothework-c Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I have to admit it is tough finding many holes in the colonel attack right now...there rotation seems to be tough.
