Can somebody give me heads up on what transpired at the District game. This loss puts alot of weight on the St. Xavier / Male for seeding in the District tournament. It appears as if Manual is for real.

Manual went up 2-0 and X came back to tie it up. Manual put together a string of hits in the fifth inning mixed with a controversial call at the plate. Nonetheless, Manual scored 5 runs in the top of the 5th. X got 7 or 8 hits (close to the same number that Manual had) they just could not string any together to produce any runs. The Manual pitcher threw very well and X left their starting pitcher in too long. It was a good game between two excellent clubs. Yesterday, Manual was the better team.

The loss to Providence (IN) on Monday has to be looked at closely as well. In talking to some people at the game, Manual threw their number 5 or 6 pitcher. A key inning involved a call by the umpire who admitted that “he didn’t see the play.” Providence also evidently threw a quality left-hander who had a very good change-up and curve ball. Doerring, too, is developing as a pitcher with the ability to throw in the mid 80’s with three pitches he can throw for strikes. Manual baseball people were happy that the St. X game may have been the best defensive game that Manual has played all year. Sometimes the Manual supporters would say that errors also played into their losses. The 7th region has tough teams in it that can make for difficult one game match-ups, but the loss to Manual could make it even more challenging to get out of the district and into the regional tournament.

This is total bunk:

1. He would have had to be in the bathroom, not to have seen the play.

2. If this is the true story; why didn't he ask for help from the field ump.

3. He did NOT throw the head coach out of the game. If he knew the rule and he knew he made the right call then he would have had no problem winning the protest that would have happened had he thrown the head coach out.

 

The Umpire was wrong. He knew he was wrong. He wouldn't over turn the call. He wouldn't ask for help. That's why he didn't throw the head coach out of the game. The head coach was justified in his protest. But trust me I have seen coaches ejected for far less than what I saw this night.
