The fast-pitch phenomenon that is Kirsten Allen continued unabated Thursday as the Ryle senior etched another mark in the state high school record book while pitching and hitting the unbeaten Raiders to a 7-0 road win against Conner.

 

Allen limited the Cougars (4-2) to three infield hits and hurled her 87th career shutout, breaking a tie with Becky Abner, who pitched 86 shutouts for North Laurel from 1997-2002.

 

"I didn't even know," Allen said. "Coach said after the game he had an announcement to make, and he said I broke the record. All the girls went 'Woo-hoo!' It was cool."
