Best way to practice?

On course experiences or at the driving range? Have heard a lot of different opinions on this topic, just wondering what everyone else thinks. I kinda like both myself, you do have to use the range to hit balls and learn really how to hit, but out on the course with different lies and things like that really makes it different than the range. Same way with putting, you can hit on the same green all day from different spots or use the 18 greens in a round for practice only you really don't get a lot of putts that way.

I would like to have a practice facility that has a great driving range and putting facility, but also have like 3 holes, like a par 3 and 2 par 4's or something that you could also use for practice. Would be a dream set up. Kind of like Man O War golf in Lexington. Great facility.

On course expierience without a doubt. You can learn more things from playing a round of golf that you could never learn on a mat at the range.

I guess Tiger who spends hours on the driving range after playing a competitive round would differ with this view.

You have to have a purpose when you get to the driving range though. Not just to hit a bucket of balls.

I would recommend one club with you and hit a couple bucket of balls to get your swing down with that club and a good idea of the distance you hit that club.

Then move to another club.

When you have each club swing down and the correct distance, it could really help your game when you are 175 yards out and you know the right club and right swing to place on the ball.

Tiger did plenty of both thats why he's so great. The driving range makes you a ball striker, the course make you a player. Yes, you have to know how far you hit each club and all, but then when you have an off day you have to know how to manage your game and put up the best number you can.
