Style of Play in Tournaments

Featured Replies

Since the Regionals are near the Semi's and Finals, how has the style of play been. Are the favorites controlling the tempo or the underdogs, doing a better job.

Which teams have adjusted or had to adjust, from an up tempo team style of play, to a half court style. Which is easier, in making an adjustment on the offensive end, half court or up the tempo.

Which style is most effective, in the Tournament.

I truly believe that if you have a style, either up tempo or half court slow mo, then you stay true to it. Whatever you are successful at doing, then do it. I believe that is why some teams can't win in the post season. Some teams change their game thinking that it will help them. If you kids are used to running, let them go.

What if you're an up tempo team, playing against a half court team.

The half court team, is dictating the style of play and I've always felt, it was more difficult for a run/gun team, to play half court. They seem to be as patient and force shots.

At the same time, how difficult for a half court team, to play an up tempo style of play.

Well in the second region all four favorites are in the semi's. IMO all four teams love a faster tempo game so i'm looking for both games to be high scoring however both Madisonville and Christian struggled a little bit in the first round.

In most regions the team that has a solid half court offense, plays pressure defense and hits their free throws usually wins. You're right the run and gun teams get very frustrated in a half court set.
