Pre-district tournaments favorite for State Champ???? Predictions?

Featured Replies

I know we still have district and region tournaments to go before even the sweet 16 comes up but just based on the season so far who would every one have to say is the favorite to win the state this year???

Personally Im gonna have to go with Paul Dunbar as the favorite. One loss all year to Iroquois by 4 isn't too bad. Throw in a sweep of district foes LCA and Lex Cath who themselves have proven to be top five teams seems pretty impressive. Dunbar doesn't really wow people with overwhelming shooting or huge blow out runs but they consistently wear down and beat teams. They have a good compliment of inside-out play along with strong D to keep most teams off balance. I'd say their biggest negative is that against the good teams they struggle to really pull away and if late in a game its close and the other team catches fire I think they could be in trouble. Still, as of now, this is far and away my vote for favorite in the state.

To early to being this conversation. Alot of basketball to be played before then. It is possible that Dunbar doesn't even make it to the Big Dance. Too much great basketball action in the first weeks of March!! Let the fun begin!!!
