Letcher County Central hosted the region 8 duals today. They did a wonderful job all the way around hosting this meet.

 

9 teams competed today. Ashland, Johnson Central, Lawrence County, Letcher County Central, McCreay Central, Sheldon Clark, Perry County Central, Whitley County and Wayne County.

 

For those of us there today, we got to witness a piece of national wrestling history. Travis Sullivan of Wayne County is now the All-Time national win leader of high school wrestling. The way the announcer said it, he holds the record with 285 career wins. I think he wrestled a few more times after he was given the award.

 

To the best of my memory... here are the way the teams finished. I know the top 4 places are correct.

9 - Lawrence County

8 - Whitley County

7 - Perry County Central

6 - McCreary Central

5 - Letcher County Central

4 - Ashland

3 - Sheldon Clark

2 - Johnson Central

1 - Wayne County

 

Wayne County and Johnson Central will represent region 8 at the State Duals on January 29th.

And for those of you wondering the team scores between Johnson Central and Wayne County... It was Wayne County 51 and Johnson Central 28.
