Its not about ripping the teams as it is about the whole 9th , This is what I see BAD coaching in the 9th not just one team ALL teams . Now some people is going to get on here and say you bash everyone, Bad coaching leads to bad play . Here is a thing to ask your self is there any coach in the 9th that a top program would hire to coach them in the years to come AND TEACH THEM THE SKILLS OF THE GAME . IMO none . There have been some coaches in the 9th that just have been blessed with a couple of very good players that made that coach look good I could mention 1-2 now but I will let that go. This is what I think of the 9th no more no less .This is just MO not bashing, It is what it is .:thumb:

Teaching the skills of the game really starts prior to High School. In High school the focus is more on playing as a team and improving already developed skills. I am from the 8th region and our biggest problem is non-qualified coaching at the lower levels not at the High School level. In our Jr Leagues there is not enough qualified volunteers to really work with the girls or boys on fundamentals.

Maybe there is something you can do to help with the improvement of these girls - Steelers. Bashing them on an anonymous site probably will not help, but maybe you can get involved at the Grade School and MS level and make sure that they have people to teach the fundamentals and such.

Our program really improved after our HS Coach got involved with the younger leagues and helped direct the Coaches on the skills to work on.

Pretty much you ARE bashing the kids. Player development is not the sole responsibility of the high school coach. Player development is the responsibility of coaches, parents, and the players themselves....so you ARE bashing the kids.

So you are not ripping the teams?

Coach's do not make better basketball players, for the most part. Players make themselves better.

The responsibility to get better is the players, the coach's responsibility is to use those skills.

Basketball is a sport were a player gets better when nobody is watching, meaning practicing on their skills on their own. Coach's in high school do not have the time to teach little Suzie how to dribble and how to pass. That does not mean instruction is not given to improve but this is not remedial basketball camp or elementary school basketball.

If a program is at the point were the high school coach has to teach dribbling and shooting to its players then they are in trouble. If you send you daughter to high school to play basketball and she is lacking those skills necessary to succeed it is not the coach's job to teach her those skills. It is you and your daughters job to improve on their skills and not scapegoat a coach for a players lack of development. After all a basketball player does not need anyone else to practice with to improve their game, they can do it alone!!
