Jim Schue
Nelson County picks up its third win in a row by scoring 50+ in its third straight game. The Cardinals rolled up nearly 400 yards on the ground, led by Devin Boone with 100+. I was told it was running clock for much of the second half. Hearsay
Nelson's veer option is working like a machine right now. 3rd straight win, 3rd straight game with more than 50 points. Nelson had 6 different players score, and they both threw and ran the ball well. Scored on every offensive first half drive. 35-0 at half. QB Jordan Keene ran for a score and threw for 2 more and ran the offense very well, and was out for the second half. Running clock early in the 3rd quarter. Defensively, Andrew Delaney had an interception and 5 sacks. South Oldham had 230 yards, mostly through the air, and mostly on the reserves, where they scored both of their TD's. On a positive note for the Dragons, they have one of the nicest fields I have ever seen, a very, very plesant and friendly crowd, and a hospitable group of men up in the press booth. It was a fantastic environment to watch high school football, made all the more sweeter when your team plays well. I think Nelson County, if they can sustain this momentum through the off week, has a pretty good shot at challenging John Hardin in 2 weeks.
