HS Girls Opening Season

Featured Replies

whats up with girls HS soccer?...its the beginning of the soccer season ...now that regular games have started.. who looks good.. who looks overrated?.. who will surprise?.. which players have stood out?..

A definite sleeper, IMO, would have to be Simon Kenton, and also Ryle. Both have good teams, and did not lose much at all due to graduation last year. There are a lot of strong players out there for each school. Some of the ones that I can think of, Katie Collinsworth, Highlands, Beck, defender from Highlands. Fahey, from Notre Dame, Durden from Calvary Christian, Both of the Russell girls from SK, Benzinger and Muth from Scott, Rachel Scott from Ryle There is also a good senior from Villa Madonna, but I am not sure of her name. I know there are many more, but those are the ones that I can think of.

I've heard a lot about Simon kenton girls this year... also have heard good things about St. Henry girls also..both seem to have been growing better every year...I saw Ryle play just a bit but they don't seem to be much better than last year unfortunately... but then again, I have not seen SK yet.. saw St. Henry at Soccerrama.. I can tell they have improved ... some teams like Ryle and NCC are good but don't seem to be much improved over last year but they will be a factor in the regionals/districts I'm sure... Of course, the ND and Highlands teams will be tough with Highlands having a big X on their backs from everyone.... must be tough to play with that letter on your back... whats up with ND and their schedule.. playing out of state.. what.. no one in ky good enough competition?... hopefully the SK and St. Henry's will play both of them and give them a good game...seems like N. Ky is much more balanced this year...maybe its true what the folks down south in ky say.. whoever comes out of N. Ky has to be the favorite to win state!.. but its always "how the ball bounces"..

St. Henry played Notre Dame already this year, and the score was 2 to 0. St henry's JV did beat Notre Dame's JV. SK did play Notre Dame, and the score was 3 to 1. It looks like that Notre Dame and Highlands are going to be the 2 top teams once again in Northern Kentucky with NCC and Ryle and SK bringing up the year. As I have stated before, when you become a good team, everyone wants to play for you.

NCC Girls Beat Notre Dame over the weekend 1-0 .

I was at the game, and it was a very well played and hard fought match between 2 of the top girls soccer teams in Northern Kentucky. Very enjoyable to watch. Notre Dame's goalie had come out of the goal and NCC's player just chipped a shot right over her head. And the goalie for NCC was fun to watch. She had some great saves.
