bobbyearl Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Just saw the score on the scoreboard. Any details on this one? Congrats to Lawrence Co. and pitcher Morgan Roberts he gave his team a chance to win. Boyd starter Tyler Perkins 3 innings of no-hit pitching. Was running a fever earlier in day thus early exit. Brad Blanton, Casey Branham, Justin Moore all went 2-3 at the plate. 3 Boyd Co. pitchers combined for 12 K's. 6 errors by Boyd (ballgame right there). Each time Boyd would retake the lead the D would give it back. Lawrence had 4 hits for the game. And seemed each came after a costly error. Normaly 4 wont get it done. 2 were hard hit 2 were flares.
bobbyearl Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Boyd Co. currently stands at 8-5 after 13 games. Losses were: Johnson Central 2-0 Apollo4-3 Rockcastle4-2 Dublin Oh.6-3 Lawrence Co.4-3 They have given up 31 runs after 13 games(less than 2.5 a game), this in itself is an amazing stat. Of the 31 I would guess half of those are unearned. This teams obvious strength is its pitching, they have the type of offense that has to manufacture 4 or 5 runs a game and let the pitching stand up.The bats are starting to come around and the coaches are looking and trying new people, and hot hitters are getting a good look. BUT, this team must get better at ss & 3rd base defensively. Its like a puzzle all the pieces are there(they have all the pieces)but they have to be put in the correct places to make the picture complete.

I have no doubt about Boyd being right in the mix when it counts. Any time the pitching staff only gives up 4 hits and gets 12 K's you cant expect a whole lot more out of them. They've done their job's well. Congrats to Casey and Brad on the offensive side however . Hey, how about J. Moore putting the bat on the ball. Great to see him swinging the stick well.
