The difference in this game was the team defense of the CovCath outfield. CovCath outfield made the great plays and the Highlands outfield didn't. CovCath pitchers of Curtin and Neihause gave up only one run to Highlands, but was helped greatly by a flawless display of defense by the Colonels. Highlands constantly had runners on the bases mostly via walks but each time the "D" held. Highlands helped CovCath out the 6th inning when number 9 first baseman/pitcher got picked off second base to end the inning. Personally CovCath looked tired, and seemed to lack the intense drive today that Highlands brought with them.

 

Cold day indeed to sit and watch a baseball game........

 

CovCath has the day off tomorrow, and then will host Dixie at noon on Saturday with a doubleheader..... Sure hope the weatherman is wrong with his Saturday forecast.....

I heard the boys aren't playing a doubleheader. If they play one game it will be played at 1:00. Coach is supposed to let them know early Saturday if they will play at all. Stay tuned.....

This shows HHS can hang with the top teams in N. Ky. One team has their program at the peak, the other is building to get to the top.

Rawlings looked good on the mound, and Allen (I believe that was the name of Highlands' shortstop) had 3 hits and hit it hard.

 

Matt Reis of CCH had an awesome diving catch in the outfield, and Niehaus had another great outing.
