Owen's 8th graders are weak, but they were needed to field a freshman team.

Yes , I think they can compete if the talent is good enough . Finding the talent in a small area like that could be tough . Not saying it can't be .If those 8th graders are that good I need to talk to them ESPECIALLY IF THEY PITCH .I could maybe use them .

 

I was surprised when I heard Beechwood did not have alot of kids come out .I know it is a small school but not sure they cut anyone .They are very young also . After the state runner-up one would think everykid would be out there .

Yea, it is surprising that the state runner-up didn't have a bigger draw. BHS had about 35 kids for V, JV and FR. I think the frosh team will be 7th and 8th graders for the most part.
