Oldham County vs. Lafayette Predictions/Updates

Oldham County (5-4) and Lafayette (7-2) head into their final regular season matchup for the second consecutive season, with both taking it on the chin last week.

Oldham fell to Trinity, 49-0, in the battle for the 6A, District 5 regular season crown, and finishes as the #2 seed. The Colonels will face District 3 three-seed North Hardin in the first round of the playoffs at Bell Field in Buckner, KY on 11/6.

Lafayette lost to Paul Lawrence Dunbar, 14-10. Lafayette, also a two-seed for the playoffs, will face Bryan Station in the first round of the playoffs at Lafayette.

Both teams feature run-oriented attacks. Prior to their running game being stymied by Trinity last week, Oldham was averaging over 200 yards a game on the ground, led by sophomore fullback Caisyn Lee's 770 yards and Luke Collier's 324. When the Colonels do go to the air, QB Javy Tucker's favorite target is speedy sophomore Cayenne Redmon (33 catches, 673 yards, 6 TDs.

Lafayette will counter with a two-headed monster featuring Harrison Stephens (650 yards, 9.3 ypc), and Tyree Richardson (777 yards, 8.2 ypc). The Generals have not been particularly efficient through the air, though, completing just over 47% of their passes for just 824 yards.

Statistics for both teams, above, are through the first 8 games only.

Oldham County won last year's year-ending meeting, at Lafayette, 43-13.
