Invest 92L

Featured Replies

Invest 92L is being monitored in the southwestern Gulf of America, where conditions appear favorable for further development. The system is expected to become more organized over the next couple of days and could develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm.

The system is expected to move generally eastward before turning north. Uncertainty remains about the eventual track, but some guidance points to the system reaching the northern Gulf Coast later this week.

Regardless of whether 92L becomes a named storm, heavy rainfall will be the primary concern. Areas along and east of the eventual track could also experience gusty winds, coastal flooding, and thunderstorms.

For Kentucky and the Cincinnati area, it is still too early to determine exactly how much impact 92L will have. Moisture from the system could eventually be drawn northward into the Tennessee and Ohio valleys, potentially increasing rainfall chances later this week or this weekend.

The forecast should become much clearer over the next couple of days as the system develops and its track becomes better defined.

Invest 92L has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Isaias.

Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to strengthen over the Gulf of Mexico before moving toward the northern Gulf Coast. The storm will then weaken as it moves northward, with its remnants potentially bringing unsettled weather into the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys.

For Kentucky, the main concern will be rainfall, with gusty winds and a limited severe-weather threat depending on the storm's eventual track.

Saturday

Moisture from Isaias will begin increasing across Kentucky. Clouds will thicken, with showers and thunderstorms becoming more likely, especially Saturday night.

Sunday

Sunday currently appears to be the main impact day for Kentucky. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are possible as the remnants of Isaias move northward. Periods of heavy rain could develop, particularly across southern and western Kentucky.

Monday

Showers and a few thunderstorms could linger as the remnants continue northeast. Rain should gradually decrease from west to east during the day.
