- The towering lights came on for Kade Goodin and Timmy Emongo, who proved to be captivating, if not imperfect dance partners. They were slightly out of sync, as the former asserted himself early, while the latter saved his fanciest footwork for later. Regardless, they combined to hold your attention throughout the fire fight that engulfed Shelbyville. Goodin's right arm, moving like a liquid whip, produced 517 yards and seven touchdowns on 65 pass attempts. His legs, when the opportunity arose, contributed another 121 and two scores. Emongo bided his time while Collins' defense was determined not to let him beat them. He did anyway, with the lion's share of his 170 yards and four touchdowns coming in the second half, including a signature sweep late in the fourth quarter that served as the nail in Collins' coffin, with Emongo gripping the hammer.

The biggest winner on the night was probably Ball State.

- When Zane Johnson's playing days are over, he has a future taming tigers for the circus. He threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns against St. X, giving him ten touchdown passes and zero interceptions against the Tigers dating back to last year's semifinals.

- South Warren's defense has been a black hole for opposing ball carriers over the years. Kasen Brock said "let there be light'. Pulaski threw caution to the wind, electing to go for it on fourth down at its own 28 on its first possession. Brock got the call, finding acres of space off left end for a 72 yard score. The tone was set; Pulaski came to fight and Brock was the tip of the spear, finishing with 200 yards and two scores on 21 carries.

- The consummate worker, Ja'Hyde Brown never takes a night off. He's always on time and only leaves when the job is done. He's been clocking out by halftime or the third quarter of every game so far this season. He caught four more touchdown passes last week, all in the first half against Bowling Green.

- Dre'Mail Carothers is the recipient of this week's 'William Tell Marksmanship Award' 🎯 after completing 13 of 16 passes for nearly 300 yards and six touchdowns in a demolition of Meade County. The Green Waves's defense has been put through the ringer; Goodin two weeks ago, then Carothers last week. 😬

- Tyler Fryman saw limited action against Owen County, but caught a touchdown pass and took an interception back for a score. This will likely be the norm for him for the next several weeks as Beechwood demolishes its district.

- Seneca Driver returned after a couple of weeks on ice to catch seven balls for 86 yards and a touchdown against Ballard. The PR situation is not ideal for the early season frontrunner.
