East Jessamine comes in 1-0 after a hard fought, mistake-filled 20-17 win over Bullitt Central. Coaching staff I'm sure had to spend this week making sure the guys knew not to let stuff get under their skins so easily and get caught retaliating. East Jessamine still had a great offensive showing with over 200 yards on the ground and 150+ through the air.

Western Hills comes in 0-1 after a 33-8 shellacking at the hands of Estill County last Friday.

After four more false starts mixed in with some movement Western Hills is forced into a turnover on downs. East Jess promptly unloads a 68 yard TD on first play. Bryce Bentley unloaded on that one. Another direct snap and it is now 16-0 East Jess with 11:23 to go in 2nd qtr.

End of the 3rd. Western Hills driving on a mix of the starting D and 2nd team D. Western Hills with the ball on their 9. 2 yard gain up the middle brings it to 3rd and 7. Designed QB keeper results in a 2 yard loss. 4th and 10 but really a long 9. Timeout Western Hills. 10:30 left in game

39-7 final. East moves to 2-0

Trent Fields is a good coach. I would like to see what he could do with a team of high level athletes.

He has a very good core of skill players coming up. Youth and number of them is the disadvantage right now as most of them are sophomores. He and his staff have them coming together well with the few upperclassmen they do have. Injuries have wrecked the past two years so I'm excited to see a mostly injury free season, they can do very well if they stay healthy. Also their youth on the lines shows great promise, just need time and reps

Another issue they run into is buy in. Traditionally not a strong football school and support has been for other sports. It's getting better but for a 5A school, they can do more from admin and fans alike. I know there were at least 15 more kids who initially said they would play this year and never showed up. That hurts depth downstream.
