This should be a very interesting scrimmage for a lot of different reasons. East Jessamine started off 2025 with a very good offense and looked to be rolling for Head Coach Fields. Then the injuries started piling up "real fast and in a big darn hurry" to quote an old movie. This derailed what looked like a very promising second year campaign for Coach Fields and staff as several of the injuries were season-ending. Coach Fields has made several changes to his staff, and they are counting on a young core combined with a senior class of 13 players and a revamped defense. The staff and people around the program have expressed very positive things to me as long as they can avoid another injury bug like the one that hit last year and feel this could be a good year to turn the corner for the program.

Mercer County is big news for a coaching staff change that seemed to really surprise a lot of people. There is some optimism out of Mercer fans, but I feel like they were cautiously optimistic as well. I don't know enough about this staff that is assembled to really put much on here, but I am hoping that someone else can contribute more about them and their outlook to this thread through their predictions.

I'm going to roll with East Jessamine in my prediction.

Very controlled scrimmage but I saw a lot to like about East Jessamine tonight. In the real game portion, East dominated easily. Got sloppy towards the end of it with several penalties that prevented another score but “won” 14-0. Typical first scrimmage jitters on both sides but flashes of good both ways. Mercer definitely needs to be patient while their new staff gets them playing the style they want.

East fans should be excited about the potential for their defense this year. Definitely looking better than last year and I think even an average fan will notice it. Offense had their moments, run game looks very solid, passing game shows so many flashes, once they dial in they have a chance to be the most balanced of Coach Fields tenure.
