Ohio County names Brent Holsclaw head football coach

Brent Holsclaw Former Kentucky Wesleyan University Coach is the new Head Coach for Ohio County was announced on 102.7 The Game ESPN Owensboro Twitter account.

Coach Holsclaw is a 1989 Trinity grad who played tight end during Jeff Brohm's era with the Rocks. He played football in college at Murray State for a year before transferring to Kentucky Wesleyan, where he played QB until his graduation. He still holds the KWU football program records for single season passing completions (207) and single season passing percentage (55.8%), both set during his senior year in 1993.

Going directly back into coaching football after graduating college, he spent the next two years as offensive coordinator at Fairdale High School in Louisville before moving on to college coaching at Mercyhurst University. He spent one season as the NCAA D-II Lakers' quarterbacks coach, then the next as their OL coach, and then was promoted to Offensive Coordinator for three seasons, from 1998-2000. The following year he accepted a job at NCAA D-III Lake Forest University and was the Foresters' Offensive Coordinator before being named head coach at Kentucky Wesleyan prior to the start of the 2003 football season. He was head coach of the Panthers for 15 seasons, stepping down in June 2018 to join the private sector with AssuredPartners, an insurance brokerage and employee benefits firm.

Holsclaw's 42–119 head coaching record at Kentucky Wesleyan still makes him the winningest coach in the modern era of the football program (1983-2025). Complete records were not kept for the results of the Panthers' first 24 seasons of football from 1907-1930, after which point the program was shelved until it's re-organization for the 1983 season.

(This is a different Brent Holsclaw from the gentleman who served as the first principal of John Hardin High School, superintendent of Bardstown City Schools and Nelson County Schools, and Chief Finance & Facilities Officer at Elizabethtown Community & Technical College.)
