Holmes hires Jaynice Stovall as the new Head Coach

Holmes High School is proud to announce the hiring of Coach Jaynice Stovall as the new Head Coach of the Girls Varsity Basketball program.

A proud graduate of Holmes High School, Coach Stovall returns to lead the Bulldogs with a deep understanding of the program’s rich tradition and championship culture. As a standout player from 2013–2017, she helped guide Holmes to back-to-back 35th District Championships (2015, 2016) and three consecutive 9th Region Championships (2015–2017).

During her high school career, Stovall established herself as one of Northern Kentucky’s most dynamic players, finishing with 1,371 points, 404 rebounds, 384 assists, and 420 steals. Her accolades include the prestigious “Miss Hustle Award” from the Northern Kentucky High School Coaches Association (2014–2015), along with multiple All-Tournament Team selections at the district, regional, and state levels, including the Girls’ State Tournament in 2017.

Following her time at Holmes, Stovall continued her academic and athletic career at Vincennes University, where she studied Business Administration while competing at the collegiate level. Over two seasons, she totaled 397 points, 91 rebounds, 118 assists, and 127 steals. She was recognized nationally as the NJCAA Division I National Steals Leader (2018–2019) and earned additional performance honors during her career.

In August 2025, Stovall was inducted into the Holmes High School Hall of Fame, further cementing her legacy as one of the program’s all-time greats.

Coach Stovall begins her first season as head coach after gaining valuable experience in lower-level coaching and being a Holmes girls’ basketball assistant. She brings a passion for the game, strong leadership, and a player-first approach centered on discipline, development, and building a championship culture.

“Coach Stovall represents everything we want in a leader of our program,” Holmes Athletic Director Ken Ellis said. “Her experience as a Bulldog, her success on the court, and her commitment to our student-athletes make her the perfect fit to lead our girls' basketball program forward.”
