Congratulations to Coach Michels for his first varsity head coaching win. 

The last time Covington Catholic's baseball team played a varsity game under a different head coach was in the KHSAA's Ludlow District Tournament on May 11, 1976. (Baseball districts used to be named after the school acting as the primary tournament host in the district rather than being assigned a district number.) The Sylvers' "Boogie Fever" was at the top of the United States musical charts, and Oldsmobile had the country's the best-selling car in their Cutlass model. All The President's Men had just moved into the top spot in US box offices, and the Great Eight of Cincinnati's Big Red Machine were just over a month into the second of their back-to-back World Series winning seasons.

George Schneider was head coach of that 1976 Colonels baseball team. The following spring Bill Krumpelbeck took over the team and settled in as the Colonels' baseball skipper for the next 1,646 games.
