Storms to End the Weekend?

A strong weather system will move east toward Kentucky Sunday night as a deep upper trough and strengthening surface low push a cold front across the region. Ahead of the front, modest moisture and increasing southerly winds will develop, but instability is expected to remain limited. Despite this, very strong winds in the atmosphere will support the development of a narrow line of thunderstorms along the cold front as it moves into the lower Ohio Valley. This line of storms may reach Kentucky Sunday night into early Monday and could produce damaging straight-line winds, with a small chance of brief tornadoes due to strong wind shear. The greatest risk will likely occur across western and central Kentucky, while eastern areas may see storms later overnight.
