?? ⚔️ | Intensity in Win City! The Trojans gave top ranked Big Red all they could handle. High, high level of play today. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Via the excellent NFHS livestream ~

The first half was a back and forth one possession battle. Teigh Yeast scored the final bucket to give the Lady Cardinals a 30-26 lead at the break.

Portsmouth played clamp down defense and hit all of their free throws to take a six point lead into the fourth.

GRC hit the ground running with a 3 by Anaya Chestnut in the opening seconds of Q4. Every basket by the Trojans was matched by the Lady Cardinals. Kennedy Stamper gave GRC some big mo, scoring the quarter's final five points over the final 2:29 - a 3, a 2, and 2 FT with :18 to play, sending the game into overtime.

Ferocious battle in OT - diving for loose balls, tipped passes, steals, loose ball scrums, all while the Lady Cards stretched out their lead.

If I had to choose, Kennedy Stamper would be named Player of the Game.

Portsmouth (16-3, MR OH #23*) visits Ashland (KY #8) Monday. The Trojans defeated the Kittens 46-32 at home four weeks ago.

* Portsmouth's Massey Rating for this week would place them in Kentucky between #7 Covington Holy Cross and #8 Ashland. This is another quality win for GRC.

GRC (18-2, MR KY #1) hosts duPont Manual (KY #45) Wednesday. The Crimsons are down from their usual level over the past several seasons, but are well coached so this game should still hold interest.
