7th Region: Week 6

? Headlines ?

? | Mason Grivna owned both ends of the floor against Butler, as Ballard handled the Bears. Grivna utilized every inch of his 6'10” frame to compile a line of 20 points, 19 rebounds, and 8 blocks. Cole Edelen matched him in the scoring column with a season high 20, including five threes. This was Ballard's best win of the season: by 17 points over a 6th Region favorite and Top 10 team in the state.

? | Jordan Mitchell's hot hand continued last week for Male. He's now scored 20 or more in thirteen consecutive games. Mitchell dropped 31 on Moore in a victorious effort by the Bulldogs, but his game high 20 wasn't enough in defeat to a good Jeffersontown side.

? ?? | Looks can be deceiving. A glance at the final score suggests a routine seventeen point win for St. X over Seneca. A closer study reveals a Redhawks squad that is capable of contending with anyone in the region. Seneca clung to the Tigers for three and a half quarters before foul trouble opened the flood gates to an X-Men flurry and subsequent separation in the later stages of the game. Mind you, the Redhawks are still missing leading scorer Noah Stephens, leaving his young teammates to figure it out. Freshmen and sophomores combined for 43 of Seneca's 63 points. Connor Klein (19), Jeremiah Jackson (18), Chief Cameron (15), and Jordan Jackson (13) provided balanced scoring for X.

♈ | Big week for the Crimsons. Mark Woods scored 26 for Manual as they beat Trinity for the first time since 2007. Ahmad Shelton was on brand a few nights later with 18 points and 19 boards in a commanding win over Eastern. Two quality opponents, two double digit point wins.

?? | Boogie Cook made his official return for CAL against rival DeSales. He (19) and Jayden Washington (20) combined for 39 points to defeat the Colts for the Section 3 championship and advance to the 2A state tournament.

? | Details are in the dark, but Brown flipped a six point loss to Francis Parker in the season's opening week into a 33 point win over the Wyverns on Friday.
