A cold front will sweep across Kentucky today, bringing a risk of strong to severe thunderstorms. Limited instability (500–1000 J/kg of MLCAPE) is expected ahead of the front, but very strong wind shear could allow storms to organize.


Western KY (2–6 PM):
•    Strong storms possible
•    Damaging wind gusts likely
•    A few tornadoes possible


Eastern KY (6–10 PM):
•    Storms arrive later in the evening
•    Mainly damaging winds
•    Isolated tornadoes possible


As the front moves through, storms are expected to line out, producing scattered severe winds and occasional brief tornadoes. A low-end severe threat may continue overnight.

 Stay alert and monitor local warnings.
