BGP Severe Weather Alert Day 4/29/25

THERE IS AN ENHANCED RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FOR PARTS OF THE OHIO VALLEY.

According to model guidance, substantial buoyancy will form along/ahead of the front from the Ohio Valley into portions of the Lower Great Lakes, even though midlevel lapse rates are decreasing.

In addition to the possibility of isolated or embedded supercells, organized storm cluster development will be facilitated by strong low- to mid-level flow. Damage-causing winds may be scattered, but if any structured clusters or linear segments form, there may be a chance for larger areas of concentrated wind damage. There will be enough low-level shear from wind shear close to the surface to sustain some supercell and/or line-embedded tornado threats. Additionally, any persistent supercell structures may be accompanied by isolated hail.
