Notes & Observations

• The Top 7 remain intact from the preseason poll.

• Great Crossing and Bullitt East are the new additions, replacing Beechwood and GRC.

• McCracken County was the week's big mover, jumping eight spots to the doorstep of the Top 10. The Mustangs performed well against out-of-state competition during a road trip through Illinois, Missouri, and Tennessee. 

• University Heights, Ryle, and Pikeville each fell seven places. Pikeville has struggled to an 0-3 start, but U-H's demotion is curious following an opening week against stiff competition courtesy of Owensboro Catholic and Lyon County. They lost to the Aces, but rallied to beat the state's #2 team, who weren't dinged at all for that loss.

• The defending state champs have the look of another title contender. PRP is off to a 5-0 start, outscoring the opposition 62-5.

• Sayre and Whitley County also had strong opening weeks. The Spartans’ 5-0 start includes wins over #22 Pikeville and perennial 16th Region power Boyd County. The Colonels beat previously ranked GRC and #24 Madison Central.

• CovCath moves to the top of the NKY heap after a 3-0 start that included a 10-2 defeat of #21 Ryle. Alek Yuskewich went yard and three Colonel pitchers combined to strike out 14 Raider batters.
