1st Region: Week 12 and District Tournaments Preview

Season has came and gone just like that in a blink of an eye. Let's take a look back at the last week of the regular season and preview the upcoming district tournaments for the first region.

- Calloway County defeated McCracken County to run they're win streak to 8 straight and are now at 26-3 on the season.

- St. Mary split two games last week, defeating defending state champions, Lyon County 75-64 before falling to Dawson Springs 69-65, which snapped they're 7 game win streak.

- Paducah Tilghman dropped a 90-80 contest to defending state champions, Lyon County. The Blue Tornadoes have lost two of they're final three games.

- Ballard Memorial ended the final week with two wins, defeating both Livingston Central 77-60 and Christian Fellowship 68-57.

DISTRICT TOURNAMENT PAIRINGS:

1st District at Fulton County.

Monday Feb. 24th - Friday February 28th.

 

(1) Carlisle County vs. (4) Fulton City.

(2) Fulton County vs. (3) Hickman County.

- Carlisle County is the hands on favorite in this district as they stand at 7-0 against these district opponents. All wins have been blowouts. They shouldn't have any issues getting past Fulton City who comes in at 3-26 and have lost 5 straight.

- Fulton County vs. Hickman County will be the best game in this district tournament, Fulton County has had the upper hand on Hickman County this season but just barely. The Pilots have defeated the Falcons 54-44 and 52-53 in overtime this season.

 

2nd District at St. Mary.

Monday Feb. 24th - Thursday Feb. 27th.

 

Monday Feb. 24th - (1) St. Mary vs. (4) Community Christian.

Tuesday Feb. 25th - (2) Paducah Tilghman vs. (3) McCracken County.

- St. Mary shouldn't have any issues escaping Community Christian as they have defeated them twice this season, both times by 20+.

- Paducah Tilghman vs. McCracken County will be a great game. Both teams have wins over each other and both wins were by 17-20 points. Also, both teams have wins over St. Mary as well.

 

3rd District at Graves County.

Tuesday February 25th - Thursday February 27th.

(1) Graves County -- Automatic Trip to District Championship and Regional Tournament.

(2) Mayfield vs. (3) Ballard Memorial.

- Mayfield and Ballard Memorial both split they're games this season. Mayfield won 60-49 at Mayfield, Ballard Memorial won 61-58 at Ballard Memorial. 

 

4th District at Calloway County.

Tuesday February 25th - Thursday February 27th.

(1) Marshall County vs. (4) Christian Fellowship.

(2) Calloway County vs. (3) Murray.

- Marshall County defeated Christian Fellowship twice this season both fairly easy. Shouldn't be any issues here. The Marshals did lose one of they're starters and leading scorers in Alex Staples to a torn ACL. That will hurt the Marshals.

- Calloway County is on a collision course to meet the Marshals again this season. Both Calloway County and Marshall County have wins over each other but first, they both got to get out of the first round. Calloway County has defeated Murray fairly easy this season. On paper, Calloway County shouldn't have any issues but that's why they play the game.
