Western Hills High School is proud to announce Arthur “Pete” Combs as our next Head Football Coach. Coach Combs brings an impressive track record of leadership, development, and success to help guide our program through this transition.

Over the past two years, Coach Combs served as the Co-Defensive Coordinator, Assistant Head Coach, and Head “Froshmore” Coach at Western Hills. He was also the Defensive Coordinator for the GLFCA East-West All-Star game, showcasing his ability to guide and inspire top talent.

In addition to his football responsibilities, Coach Combs is deeply committed to Western Hills High School, serving as an assistant basketball coach and a special education paraeducator. He is a mentor to not only student-athletes but many students throughout our school community.

Before joining Western Hills, Coach Combs was instrumental in starting the football program at Great Crossing High School, where he served as an assistant coach for four years. His coaching efforts have helped develop several future college athletes, including those who have gone on to compete at the Division I level.

Coach Combs is a 1994 Hazard High School graduate who was a standout multi-sport athlete and a Mr. Football candidate. He was inducted into the Hazard High School Hall of Fame in 2013. As a collegiate player at the University of the Cumberlands, he led the Mid-South in yards per carry during his sophomore season in 1995.

Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Coach Combs is a dedicated family man. He is married to Jessica Combs, and they have three sons: Tre, Myles, and Braylen. Coach Combs will continue to build on the program's positive momentum and keep the focus on "building better men."

There will be a meeting for all players and parents on Thursday, February 27th at 6pm in the Western Hills Library. Anyone interested in joining the football team is welcome and encouraged to attend.
