2A Boys' Indoor Track & Field Rankings (2025)

Featured Replies

?? | A rivalry of Colonels continues to simmer. 2A Cross Country's top two teams last fall, Covington Catholic and Bourbon County, lead the rankings one month before the KHSAA's State Indoor T & F Meet.

Both teams, as well as Corbin and Mason County feature top flight performers, as well as breadth and depth across the sport's disciplines.

? Familiar names with state title resumes - Riku Sugi, Will Sheets, Tanner Tumey, as well as up and comers Noah Nichols, Paul Klosinski, and Luke McLane, are event leaders here.

Expect to see the distance events alter team scoring projections over the next few weeks. Most of the heavy hitters have had light schedules so far, particularly Sugi and Sheets.

Rankings are based season's best performances in a virtual state meet format - places 1-8 scoring, two entries per team in each event, etc.

? ? Excellent performances over the last two weekends, and we've got a much clearer picture of how the state meet sets up in March. Lexington Catholic (+7) and Thomas Nelson (+9) moved up the rankings, to 3rd and 7th respectively. Defending state champion Covington Catholic remains 1st overall.

⏱️ ? There are eight new events leaders. The biggest news is Riku Sugi's 4:09.60 mile record run in Nashville. The Thomas Nelson senior and Notre Dame signee broke St. Xavier All-American Bobby Curtis' 2003 Kentucky best.

✔️ The 2A Boys' and Girls' KHSAA State Meet is scheduled for March 4 at Louisville's Norton Healthcare Center.

⏱️?1️⃣ | Will Sheets of Cov Cath ('25) also set an all-time Kentucky best in Nashville's Music City Challenge.

The University of Virginia signee ran 25 laps on Vanderbilt's indoor track in 14:26.66 The mark clipped nearly 25 seconds off the record he set as a sophomore at the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York City. Will's time is currently ranked No. 4 nationally this year.

? Congrats Rigu and Will!

The 2025 track seasons battles between these two in 2A will be among the best to ever lace them up in the Bluegrass.

Details on the two can be found here ~
