Henderson County picks up a good road win after dropping one to Madisonville last night. 

The game went to overtime.  Henderson County led most of the first quarter, before settling into a 14-14 tie after one.  The Colonels hit four threes in the opening frame.  The tide turned in the second quarter, as Central used an 11-0 run in the middle of the quarter to take control, and they would not trail again in regulation, leading 30-20 after two.  The third yo-yo'd between 8-14 points, but you began to see the signs at the end of Henderson County beginning to put it together.  It was still a 10 point lead, 44-34, and Central got up 11 at one point in the fourth.  But they wouldn't make a field goal for the final five minutes of regulation.  As Henderson County began to chip away, they eventually had to start fouling, and Central missed five free throws in a row, before hitting one to make it a three point game at 51-48, with 18.3 seconds remaining.  Central had three fouls to give, and used two of them to drain 10 seconds off.  Henderson County inbounded into the backcourt to Johnson, who drove down the left side of the lane, Central collapsed on him, and he kicked it to the opposite corner to Moss for a three which he knocked down to send it to overtime.  In OT, Central hit two free throws before Henderson County scored back to back baskets, the second a scoop shot at the glass by Moss after a drive, giving the Colonels their first lead since the second quarter.  Anthony answered for Central to give them a 56-55 lead.  Henderson County went back in front when Davenport drove the baseline, drawing a double, and then passed it cleanly to Davis for a two footer to go back in front 57-56 with just over 8 seconds left.  Central called timeout, and Hulbert drove length of the court, putting up a floater at about 6-10 feet that was short, ending the game. 

Considering Central led most of the night - similar to their other loss to a Kentucky team in PRP - it's a bitter pill to swallow.  Very rare for them to blow a double digit lead, and rarer still at home.  They may have had fatigue after a district battle last night, but it's not as if Henderson County couldn't say the same.  But the real disappointment was the lack of situational awareness that led to the game tying three.  There were 8 seconds left when the ball was inbounded.  By the time they'd driven down to the hoop, there was probably three.  The two doesn't matter - AT ALL. You absolutely cannot leave your man on the perimeter at that point.  At the time of the pass, there were only two Colonels who were not in the paint.  One was at the top of the key, and it would have been a difficult pass to get it to him.  The other was Moss in the corner, in literally the same spot he'd been in when the ball was inbounded.  It was apparent the play was for him, they executed it to a T, but knowing the situation and playing proper assignment, he either never gets the ball or has an incredibly difficult shot.

Ultimately, the game doesn't matter to the end goals, and hopefully Central learns from it, but they absolutely blew it at that point.  Everything else in there, Henderson County took it from them.  Their set plays really impressed me, very patient in their sets.
