Region 5: Week 7

Featured Replies

Nothing too surprising happened in week 7. Congratulations to Larue County, who had a nice run at the 2A state tournament. They lost in the semifinals to eventual 2A state champion Calloway County. The district seedings are starting to take shape and we will know even more after this week. I’m including district standings below the rankings this week.

Green County travels to Owensboro for the All-A state tournament this week. They drew Hazard in the first round. I think the winner of that game has a great chance to advance to the finals. Could setup a semi-final game with Danville Christian Academy.

Adair & Taylor Counties continue to win. Central Hardin, North Hardin and Bardstown all had good district wins this past week. Speaking of Bardstown, they were defeated by Ashland on Saturday night. The final score ended up being about 19 points, but that game was much closer than that. It was a 4-point game going into the final quarter and even with about 5 minutes to go, the game was only a 6- or 7-point game. Bardstown seems to be playing at a little bit higher than expectations right now.

Nothing really surprising here I guess. I would consider maybe an Adair/Larue switch but could also live with it as is. Interestingly enough Adair and Larue will now not meet head to head so it will all be opinion for a while. Green may be rewarded in rankings with 14 wins over a much less difficult schedule than Larue or Adair. That will change this week when they play Hazard.  5th Region tournament is going to be a great one!
