14th Region: Week 7

Well, we had a similar week this past week as the week before, with weather still playing a factor in games but the 14th region still managed to get more games in than the week before but still not many games.

Hazard remains #1 this week and they continue to be the dominate force in the 14th region after picking up three big wins this week, including winning the 14th region All A Classic. Hazard defeated both Knott County Central 57-38 and Breathitt County 55-47 to win the tournament. This was Hazard's third win this season over Breathitt County. Prior to the 14th Region All "A" Classic games, Hazard defeated Buckhorn 86-46 in a district matchup. Evin Eversole led the Bulldogs in both wins over Knott County Central and Breathitt County, averaged 14.5  points a game in both games.

After having a week off, Perry County Central picked up two wins while dropping one.  The Commodores two wins were over district opponents; Cordia 74-26 and Leslie County 62-47. The Commodores would drop a 47-45 contest to region rival, Knott County Central. 

Breathitt County added to they're win streak last week by picking up two wins, defeating Buckhorn 80-43, Owsley County 67-47. The Bobcats seen they're win streak come to an end with yet another loss to Hazard, 55-47.  With 5 minutes to go in the Owsley County game, the Bobcats only held a 6 point lead over the Owls. Breathitt County was able to push the lead out to double digits late.

Powell County got a revenge win over Estill County, on the Engineers own home court, to get a revenge win. The Pirates would also suffer a loss, falling hard to Floyd Central 93-79.

The Patriots of Knott County Central has turned it on since defeating Estill County back on Dec. 29th. Since that game, The Patriots have won 6 of they're last 7. The loss came to Hazard 57-38 in the 14th Region All "A" Classic. The Patriots would bounce back and defeat Perry County Central in a thriller, 47-45. 

REGION TOP PERFORMERS:

Evin Eversole (Hazard) - Averaged 14.5 ppg in the two All "A" Classic games. He's also averaging a double double this season.

Trayten Woods (Perry County Central) - Scored 54 points in three games, that's an average of 18 points a game.

Bryson Edwards (Powell County) - Dropped 16 in the win over Estill County.

Austin Sperry (Breahtitt County) - Poured in 31 in the 67-47 win over Owsley County. Also grabbed 6 boards.
