NKY Girls Basketball Top 10 (week of December 16, 2024)

Featured Replies

If there was ever a week of action that underscored that NKY, and specifically, the 9th Region was more open than in many years, this was that week.  Even our new #1 team looked fallible before pulling off a late win over a very game Dixie team.  Teams 2-5 are really about how I'd rank them if they were playing a four team playoff tomorrow, more so than the collective results of their games so far.  Plus, in fairness, I did have a number of conversations with coaches and officials, as stealthily as I could, talking about the top of the area, and those thoughts impacted this week's ranking as well.  Plus, I was fortunate to attend 5 games this week, so you can always see a lot more than you can ever pull from a box score or a "game recap" on BGP or from one of the local NKY HS beat writers (who I enjoy and think they do a nice job).

This week is interesting in that some of our top teams have fairly soft weeks (or should be soft, we'll say that), while some others are heading to the best in-season tourney in the State at Bullitt East, the Queen of the Commonwealth.  Will be a vast difference in "strength of schedule" games this week, so that will be taken into effect next week as well if teams pick up quality wins or drop games to superior talent from around the state.  Not a ton of intra-area games this week of note, but Dixie at Simon Kenton tomorrow is certainly one you'll want to get out and see.  Walton going to Campbell County could be sneaky interesting as well as the Lady Camels haven't been the most consistent bunch in the area yet this year.  Have a great week, everyone.
