6th Region: Week 1

We are off and running and have completed the first week of the Boys Basketball Season. I went out to three games this week and watched some games online and followed the scores very closely. I never want to get too high or too low on teams after one week but I did come out of this week believing I had a couple of teams ranked too high in my preseason rankings and one ranked too low. DeSales, Evangel Christian and Holy Cross are the three I had too high and will be going down in this weeks rankings while Butler was too low and will be moving up. let's get to the rankings and preview of each teams week.

Team Rankings

1. Fairdale (3-1) The Bulldogs had a very busy 4 game week and gave me confidence in me ranking them #1 in the region as they went 3 and 1 with only loss to one of the better teams in Tennessee in the Marshall County Hoopfest.

2. Jeffersontown (1-2) – The Chargers lost two of their 3 games this week and normally that would drop a team in the rankings but that will not be the case here as they lost close games to good teams and were without their best player in region player of the year candidate Dayvonne Harrison.

3. Fern Creek (4-0) – A great start out of the gate for the tigers with 4 wins and no losses in week one. This team will be one to reckon with all season.

4. Butler (3-0) – Butler had a very impressive week with 3in city games and winning in blow out fashion in all three.

5. PRP (2-0) – The Panthers started off with two wins and I believe will surprise some people this year after a disappointing season for their standards last year.

6. Bullitt East (2-1) - The Chargers had a good first week of the season winning 2 of their 3 games.

7. Evangel Christian (0-2)- The defending region champs did not get off to the start they would have liked losing both games this week.

8. DeSales (1-3) -.The Colts did not a have a good week plain and simple. Of all the teams results this week I was most surprised by this team. I have dropped them several spots from preseason prediction and they may end up dropping more but want to give them another week or two. It is hard for me to imagine giving their recent success that they have fallen this far but time will tell.

9. Holy Cross (0-2) - The Cougars lead Fern Creek by 9 late in game and ended up losing it in double overtime. The next  game Butler beat them by a lot more than I expected.

10. Moore (1-2) - Moore won their opener then lost 2 straight but to very good teams.

11. North Bullitt (2-0) - The Eagles may be a team that can move up the rankings after their first week I will have my eye on them.

12. Southern (1-0) - Won their only game this week with a blowout win over Valley.

13. Bullitt Central (1-1) - The Cougars split their two games this week.

14. Doss (1-3) - The Dragons were busy this week with 4 games but only winning one of those.
