The ratings use avg. margin of victory/loss applied to avg. strength of schedule played. Out of state opponents are not calculated. There is a cap of 40 points for teams whose ratings are within 40 points of each other to prevent the rating from being inflated from running up the score. Teams that have more than 40 points difference and is obvious running clock game the game is entered as the teams played to the difference in rating. An example would be Boyle County playing Jenkins with a 140-point difference in rating but Boyle County winning by 70 so would be entered as a 140-point win. This is often a factor in district play where teams can't control their schedule.
