Highlands 0 Bishop Brossart 0

Well Highlands inability to score once again is holding them back from having a nice start of the season.  5 games in and the Birds have only scored 4 goals, with a 2 game scoreless streak that needs to come to an end soon.  All other aspects of the game I feel the Birds are doing just fine.  I think the possession for the Birds has been better than the opponents, definitely the shot disparity has been in the Birds favor.  The job Sam Lang in doing between the posts have been nothing but awesome as I thought it would be.  The defense I feel is a bend don't break type of defense, holding the 5 opponents we have faced to only 4 goals against, with 2 shutouts.

Suli has really done an interesting job trying to develop his young guys in the Fresh/Soph class intertwining them into the pitch to gain valuable experience without jeopardizing the quality of the game being played.  We still are a little banged up with Senior Ethan Schweitzer still on crutches itching to get back to full strength and Senior Gamble grinding thru the last week or so with a bum shoulder.

At the end of the day this was a very winnable game, had plenty of nice set piece opportunities right outside of the box and a handful of corner kicks to try to bust one into the back of the net.  Hats off to the Brossart D and the goalkeeper for keeping a clean sheet for themselves.  They worked their tails off back there to get the shutout.

Only thing of note for the Birds that will cost them a player for next game is Owen Yelton got a double yellow (resulting in red card), so we will not have his services on the pitch for Saturday night.

Next up for the Birds:  Saturday, 6:30pm they finally get to play in the NKY mecca soccer complex of NKU stadium.  Should be a great atmosphere as they host Archbishop McNicolas from Cincinnati.  Doesn't get easy for the Birds on this one, Cov Cath visited McNick back on Aug 20th and returned to Ky with a 2-1 loss.

Next up for the Mustangs:  they get a nice break until Thursday, Sep 12th when they play host to Conner
