Announced yesterday that Eugene Farmer, former Cawood standout and player at Alice Lloyd College, will take over as Head Coach at Cawood. Good person, good baseball knowledge...hope he does well.

Now the only thing they need is to take that dang light pole and put it on the outside of the field instead of right outside the first base foul line.

I think at one point the light was placed there in outrage after repeated bad calls at first base...sounded like a good idea at the time.

I hope there baseball can compete better than the rest of there athletic programs. Football, boys and girls basketball has been very poor.

The boys basketball team has been pretty good until this season.

That light pole will never be moved. There is probably 2 tons of cement anchoring that thing underground. They also choked a little bit by making that brick backstop so dang close to the plate (a true sign of a team that never has fundemental catchers). Example, Cumberland always has great catchers. They have to because if they don't, a pass ball would seriously hurt. Even Middlesboro's and Corbin, both brick, are a significant distance futher from the plate than the wall at Cawood.

 

That being said, they have been pretty competitive through the years and I would like to see that come back again. It is good for the region.
