Graybeard
A very informative report Underarmour – thank you. Ashland (as a team) isn’t quite a strong as last year. However, we do have a couple of wrestlers that could be contenders for the Region 8 title. Andrew Dillon (HWT) and Patrick (112) have had very successful seasons to date – including some very tough Ohio competition. I think we have a few others that are good enough to qualify for state. Mat Bartram (160), Bayless (215), Riggsby (135) and maybe a few more. We have several young wrestlers that are probably a year away. The good news from Ashland is that our middle school (Verity) did very well at their Regional meet, and our coaches have also started a program for very young kids this year. About 60 kids turned out for the K-3rd grade program and another 40 or so have participated in the 4th-6th grade program. I think getting them involved early will generate interest in the wrestling program and make better wrestlers down the road in the next few years. underarmour
LaRue County won the state duals last year, and got 3rd at the state tournament. Can this be the year they bring home the state championship? If my memory is correct, LaRue County was leading in points during the first 2 days of last year at the state tourney, then on the last day Woodford County and South Oldham passed them up. We will have to wait and see. Last years state tournament point totals 1st - Woodford County - 230.00 2nd - South Oldham - 166.00 3rd - LaRue County - 143.

pastplayer
Here is my predictions for the region 8. Wayne County 2. Johnson Central 3. Sheldon Clark 4. McCreary Central 5. Letcher County Central I think at 152 it will be Burgess (SC) vs Sullivan (WC) an at 160 Stafford(SC) vs Floyd(WC). At 171 I think Singley will win it and at HWT Slone(Sc) vs Espinoza(MC) will be a good matchup.
