15th Region Week 12 Rankings & Review

Week 12:
Here’s your weekly recap for the 15th!

1. Pikeville (17-4)
Pikeville really seems to make the fifteenth out to be a one horse race. They put together another undefeated week this time knocking off Huntington Prep by 14 and East Ridge by 38. They’ve lost one game this year and it was in the All A. They wrap up their regular season with a game at Shelby Valley tonight, Magoffin County at home tomorrow, and Paintsville on the road Friday.

2. Pike County Central (17-8)
Pike County Central keeps rolling along as well this time with wins over Mountain Mission by 36 and Phelps by 41. Jaylan Rigdon and Jaden Stewart led the way with 31 and 30 in the first win and 31 and 29 in the second win. Is their 1-2 punch enough to knock off Pikeville? Time will tell. They finish up their regular season with East Ride at home tonight, Lawrence County at home tomorrow, and East Ride again on the road Thursday.

3. Lawrence County (21-5)
Lawrence went 1-1 on the week with a win over Paintsville that surprisingly took them into OT, and then a 10 point loss to Ashland. Lawrence will need more from their squad if they look to knock off Pike County Central on the road tomorrow. They also have a game with Raceland at home on Thursday. Hayden Perry led the way in the win over Paintsville with 13.

4. Martin County (18-9)
Martin Co went 2-1 on the week with a nice 3 point win at home against Hazard, a 15 point win against Paintsville, but then faced an 11 point setback to GRC. Luke Hale had four 3’s and 27 in the loss to GRC. Martin finishes up the regular season with a game at home with Floyd Central Tuesday.

5. Magoffin County (15-11)
Magoffin pushed their win streak to four games and went 2-0 on the week with a 8 point win over Johnson Central, and a 24 point win over Betsy Lane. Aden Barnett has put together a great season and is one of the state’s leading scorers averaging 29.8 per game on 57% shooting. They’re going to need all of that and more as they travel to Pikeville Tuesday and host East Ridge at home on Friday.

6. Floyd Central (13-12)
The Jaguars put together a really nice 3-0 week this week as they knocked off Knott County Central by 3, Huntington Prep by 23, and then Johnson Central by 13. Floyd Central will wrap up their regular season with Martin County on the road Tuesday, and Shelby Valley at home on Friday.

7. Betsy Lane (14-13)
Betsy Lane had a rough 1-3 week with a 12 point loss to Knott Central, a 16 point loss to Magoffin, a 3 point loss to Breathitt, but finally a 6 point win over Prestonsburg. They really needed the win over Prestonsburg to try to get some momentum going into the final week of the regular season. They host Ligon COGO tonight, travel to Breathitt County Thursday, and then host Jackson City on Saturday.

8. Johnson Central (12-11)
The Golden Eagles are now losers of 4 of their last 5, and look to right the ship before it’s too late. They dropped an 8 point game to Magoffin to start the week, then knocked off Belfry by 6. They finished the week with a 13 point loss to Floyd Central and a 4 point loss to Knott County Central. They finish up their regular season with a game at Boyd County tonight, and a game at Shelby Valley tomorrow.

9. Paintsville (11-15)
Paintsville finally stopped a six game skid with a 10 point win over Huntington Prep. The Tigers are short on time with trying to turn this thing around. If they’re going to do so, they need to beat Morgan County on the road Tuesday, and then make a statement on Friday with Pikeville coming into town.

10. Prestonsburg (15-12)
The Blackcats are another team that seem to be reeling at the wrong time. They went 1-1 on the week with an 11 point win over Leslie County, but immediately followed that up with a 6 point loss to Betsy Lane. They finish the regular season up with Belfry at home on Monday, and Letcher County Central on the road Tuesday.

Best of the Rest:

11. Shelby Valley (7-13)

12. Phelps (14-12)

13. East Ride (10-15)

14. Belfry (8-19)
