15th Region Week 11 Rankings and Review

Rankings and Review for week 11!

Week 11:

1. Pikeville (15-4)
The Panthers keep rolling right along. This time with a 27 point blowout win over region foe East Ridge and a 22 point blowout win over Shelby Valley. It’s tough to see anyone right now being able to beat Pikeville IMO in the region. Six players scored 8+ in the win over East Ridge. This week Pikeville is on the road tonight at Huntington Expression Prep, then they host East Ridge on Saturday.

2. Pike County Central (12-8)
The Hawks went 2-0 on the week with a 48 point win over Belfry and a 26 point win over Shelby Valley. It’s sad to see what’s happened over on Pond Creek. Jaylan Rigdon led the way with 32 on 80% shooting from the field in the win over Valley. PCC is back in action at home tonight against Mountain Mission VA, then they host Phelps on Thursday.

3. Lawrence County (18-4)
The Bulldogs went 2-0 on the week with a 12 point win over Floyd Central and a 27 point win over East Ridge. In the win over Floyd Central Andrew Bloomfield led the way with 25, then Hayden Perry with 22, and Blake Marcum with 21. Lawrence hosts Paintsville tomorrow, goes to Wayne WV on Wednesday, and then hosts Ashland on Friday. If they can knock off Ashland this may turn some heads in the 15th.

4. Martin County (16-8)
Martin went 3-0 on the week and extended their win streak to six games. They knocked off Magoffin at home by 5, Knott County Central at home by 11, and then went on the road and hung 103 on Johnson Central and beat them by 9. They were led by Luke Hale with 24, Brayden McKenzie with 23, and Devan Maynard with 22 in the win over JC. Martin hosts 14th region favorite Hazard tomorrow, Paintsville on Thursday, then they go to GRC on Saturday.

5. Magoffin County (13-11)
Magoffin went 2-2 on the week. They started the week slow with losses to Martin County by 5 and Ashaldn by 14, but rebounded with back to back wins over Paintsville in consecutive days by 9 and 14. The Hornets are back in action this week as they go to Johnson Central tonight, host Betsy Lane on Wednesday, and go to Shelby Valley on Friday. Aden Barnett led the way against Paintsville with 37 points.

6. Betsy Lane (12-10)
The Bobcats went 2-0 on the week with a 5 point win over Paintsville and a 9 point win over Shelby Valley. I almost moved them up into the top five but they did lose to Magoffin at home at the end of January. Betsy Lane will have a chance to redeem themselves though as they go to Magoffin on Thursday. They also play Knott County Central on the road tonight, Breathitt at home on Thursday, and Prestonsburg  at home on Saturday.

7. Johnson Central (11-8)
The Golden Eagles went 1-1 on the week with a 7 point win on the road at Prestonsburg and a 9 point loss to Martin County. Austin Slone had 21 in the win over Prestonsburg and 37 in the loss to Martin County. The Eagles will have a chance to move up in the rankings this week with a home game tonight with Magoffin, a game on the road against Belfry Thursday, a game at home with Knott County Central Friday, and then on the road with Floyd Central Saturday.

8. Floyd Central (10-12)
The Jaguars lost to Lawrence by 12 to start the week and then beat Breathitt County by 5 to end the week. Floyd has now won 3 of their last 4 and look to go on a little run. This week they play Knott County Central on Tuesday, Huntington Expression Prep on Thursday, and Johnson Central at home on Saturday.

9. Paintsville (10-13)
Paintsville is now losers of 4 straight and 10 of their last 13. They’re trending down and need to right the ship if they’re going to salvage this season. They can do so in a big way with games on the road at Lawrence Tuesday, Martin Co on Thursday, and Huntington Expression Prep Saturday.

10. Prestonsburg (14-11)
Prestonsburg went 0-2 on the week with a 7 point loss to Johnson Central and a 29 point loss to Betsy Lane. The Blackcats have now lost 6 of their last 8 and are also struggling. They can right the ship this week as they host Leslie County on Tuesday, and go to Betsy Lane on Saturday.

Best of the Rest:

11. Shelby Valley (6-13)

12. East Ridge (9-11)

13.  Phelps (13-10)

14. Belfry (7-17)
