Runcible Owl
🏆🐎 | Lexington | Bishop Brossart won two races in one in Saturday's meet at the Kentucky Horse Park. I had a chance to watch this thriller via livestream - razor close between two NKY teams! 🥇 Senior Nathan Ruth, last year's runner-up, led the Mustangs to their 11th Boys XC title. Congratulations Nathan and Mustangs! 🎉 Five Mustangs placed in the top 25 to edge Region 4 rival Villa Madonna by five points - the closest margin of the day's six races. Junior Mark Antrobus' 12th place finish led the Vikings. It was the second consecutive runner-up placing for the Villa Hills school. 17 time champ St. Henry placed third. A close team finish was anticipated. Brossart won last week's Regional through a "6th Man" tiebreaker. Roman Sierpina, a Louisville Collegiate junior, placed second. Beechwood senior Samson Weldemichael's third place finish led the Tigers to seventh place. Next year should see a reshuffling of the top eight teams. Among the top finishers, Collegiate's Sierpina will be joined by soph James Gurley. Bethlehem returns the duo of junior Isaac Riggs and frosh Grant Greenwell. 📝 Side notes for Bishop Brossart: • The Mustangs have won a State title in every decade, including the very first 1A meet in 1972 - coached by Mike Guidugli. The late Dale McMillan, then of WHKK, did a great audio recap of that team that will, I kid you not, give you chills. • Brossart's 11th Boys championship breaks a 4th place tie with Daviess Co. and now trails St. Xavier, Trinity, and St. Henry on the all-time list. • This same title (11) ties the Mustangs for third most among NKY programs with the Highlands girls. St. Henry leads both B-K-C girls (19) and boys (17) lists. The Mustangs and Bluebirds are now tied with a combined 14 boys and girls championships. 👇 Links to the full team and individual results. 🔗🔗 milesplit.live/meets/572980/1A_Team milesplit.live/meets/572980/1A_Boys span widget
